China’s Minimally Invasive Gastric Cancer Tech – "China Solution" at Belarus Forum

From October 29 to 31, 2025, the 4th Belarusian Endoscopic Surgery Forum was successfully held in Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Invited by the forum organizer – the Republican Clinical Medical Center (RCMC) directly under the Administration of the President of Belarus – an expert team from the Gastric Cancer Center of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital, consisting of Professor Xu Zekuan, Professor Xu Hao, and Dr. Li Fengyuan, attended the grand event. They conducted live demonstrations of high-difficulty laparoscopic gastric cancer surgeries and delivered multiple thematic academic reports, comprehensively showcasing China’s cutting-edge technologies and systematic treatment plans in the field of minimally invasive gastric cancer treatment, which received great attention and recognition from the international surgical community.

Chinese Surgery Reaches New Heights on the International Stage
As one of the most influential academic conferences on minimally invasive surgery in Eastern Europe, this year’s forum was co-chaired by Irina Stepanovna, Director of RCMC, and Yury Slabadzin, Deputy Director. Notably, in April this year, Deputy Director Slabadzin led a delegation to pay a special visit to our hospital, conducting in-depth exchanges with Professor Xu Zekuan’s team on minimally invasive gastric cancer surgery technologies, discipline development, and talent training, and officially extending the invitation for this forum. After months of careful preparation and close collaboration between the two parties, this landmark international medical cooperation was successfully realized.
Belarusian National Television pointed out in a special report that this is the first time Chinese doctors have conducted live surgical demonstrations of a "Gastric Cancer Master Class" in Belarus. It not only demonstrates China’s leading level in minimally invasive treatment of gastrointestinal tumors but also marks a new stage in medical exchanges and cooperation between China and Belarus.

Exquisite Technology Wins Praise from International Peers

On October 29, Professor Xu Zekuan and Professor Xu Hao successfully performed two live demonstrations of 3D laparoscopic distal gastrectomy and one 3D laparoscopic total gastrectomy at the RCMC Surgery Center. The entire surgical process adopted a domestic integrated minimally invasive surgical solution. With its excellent stereoscopic vision and precise operational performance, it achieved clear exposure and delicate handling of key anatomical structures, demonstrating the in-depth integration of "Chinese equipment", "Chinese technology" and "Chinese experience".

More than 400 surgical experts from Belarus and neighboring countries observed the operations on site, and the surgical process was live-streamed globally via YouTube. The number of online viewers continued to rise, triggering extensive discussions and positive evaluations in the international minimally invasive surgical community.

Academic Exchanges Deepen International Cooperation
On October 30, the expert team shared Chinese experience during the academic report session. Professor Xu Zekuan delivered a speech titled Current Status of Clinical Research in Gastric Cancer in China, introducing the latest progress in clinical research on gastric cancer in China. Professor Xu Hao gave speeches titled Robotic Surgery in Gastric Cancer and Introduction of Gastric Cancer Center, focusing on showcasing the achievements of our hospital in robotic gastric cancer surgery and the construction of the gastric surgery discipline system.

In recognition of the important contributions of our hospital’s experts to promoting international surgical education, the forum organizing committee awarded Professor Xu Zekuan and Professor Xu Hao the title of "Honorary Members of the Belarusian International Endoscopic Surgery Forum". Deputy Director Slabadzin expressed his expectation to establish a long-term and stable cooperative relationship with Jiangsu Provincial People’s Hospital, jointly carry out more high-level joint research and training projects, and promote the popularization and development of minimally invasive surgical technologies in Eurasia.

Continuously Promoting Chinese Surgical Technology "Going Global"
The successful participation in this forum is an important practice of our hospital in advancing the internationalization strategy and building a global cooperation network. In recent years, the gastric surgery team of our hospital has continuously expanded international exchange channels. The China International Training Academy of Gastric Surgery (CINTAGAS), initiated by Professor Xu Zekuan, has successfully held three international training programs, providing systematic and standardized minimally invasive gastric cancer surgery training for surgeons from Belarus, Egypt and other countries along the "Belt and Road".

Previously, Dr. Sergey Podhaisky from Brest Central Hospital in Belarus completed a three-month training in gastrointestinal surgery at our hospital and also participated in the surgeries and forum exchanges this time, becoming a practical practitioner of medical cooperation between the two countries.
This trip to Belarus not only demonstrates the technical strength and academic level of the gastric surgery team of our hospital but also reflects our sense of responsibility in actively participating in international medical exchanges and promoting Chinese surgical technology to the world. This international exhibition has further enhanced the reputation and influence of our hospital in the global minimally invasive surgical field, and demonstrated the right to speak and leading role of Chinese medicine on the international stage. Our hospital will continue to deepen cooperation with international peers and contribute "Jiangsu wisdom" and "China Solution" to the progress of global medicine.
